GESSO reveals the untold story of Street Painting. Now a blossoming and worldwide acclaimed art phenomenon, but after 5 centuries almost became extinct if it wasn’t for the people of that tiny Northern Italian village Grazie di Curtatone. There in 1973 they started the I Madonnari Festival, the world’s first Street Painting event, to celebrate the last old masters and preserve their cultural heritage. And from this very place Italian Street Painting, as it became known all over the world in honor of it’s origin, experienced a true Renaissance. What drives these people to create temporary art that will vanish after the first rain? And what draws them to this art form?
